What sailing means to us.
My name is Captain Genevieve, founder of Flathead Lake Sailing School. Now I live in Montana in the summer and Virgin Islands in the winter.

History of the school:
I grew up sailing on Flathead lake and somewhere in the back of my mind it was always there. The water and wind called to me and I found it. Next I knew it was something to be shared through our sailing school.
What can new sailors do?
There are several ways to get into the sailing community. Take a lesson and make some contacts. Ask questions. Find local racing yacht clubs and volunteer. Look into sailing forums and facebook groups. Buy a boat and get private lessons. Once you start inviting more experienced sailors aboard you will quickly see the amazing community around this lifelong sport.

Tip:
You can learn to sail, but you have to make the decision to grab the lines.
Here’s how to do it:
Think about the type of sailing you might like
Pick a body of water would like to learn about
Find a sailing school
Study all the material
Practice! Practice! Practice!
